Sally's Dream a Reality

Starting Sally's Dream are seven of the people who have been responsible for getting the project to the construction stage. They included from 1. to r.: John Luedke of the WEL Foundation, Mike Andryshak, head of Orange County Parks maintenance; NYS Senator William Larkin; Chris Ashman, Commissioner of the Department of Mental Health; Graham Sken, Commissioner of Parks in Orange County; Jim Shea, Deputy Director of the Hudson Valley DDSO (Development Disabilities Service Organization) and Douglas McGlynn, Sally's son.

Sally's Dream is a handicapped accessible park at the Thomas Bull park on Route 416 i n Hamptonburgh. That was the dream of Sally McGlynn, one of the founders of the Family Empowerment Council and a strong advocate of people with disabilities for more than 30 years. She died in March of 1999 at 58.
